The First Sip: MYOM Vanilla Cold Foam Iced Latte

Tall glass of vanilla cold foam iced latte on a kitchen counter. Espresso swirling through cold MYOM Barista oat milk over ice, finished with a thick, glossy cold foam crown peaked just off-centre. Warm side-light from the right.

The most ordered cold drink in coffee. Soft, vanilla-laced, crowned with creamy MYOM Barista cold foam. The first sip is the one you'll remember.

There is a sound in every coffee shop in summer. A long, satisfied sigh as someone takes the first sip of a vanilla cold foam iced latte. The straw cuts through the cloud-white foam crown, down through the smooth latte underneath, and the drinker pauses, ice rattling gently in the glass, before lowering it and saying, every time, the same word: lovely.

That sound, it turns out, you can make in your own kitchen. Five minutes flat, an iced glass, a fresh batch of MYOM Barista Oat, a splash of vanilla syrup, and a frother. The drink that has quietly become coffee's bestseller, poured slowly, sipped slower.

How the world fell in love with cold foam

Cold foam, as a category, is American. Specifically, it is Starbucks. The chain launched its first "sweet cream cold foam" in 2018 as a way to bring espresso-shop texture into iced drinks, and the format exploded. By 2023, cold foam had spread to every speciality café from Seoul to Stockholm. By 2025, it had its own TikTok ecosystem, its own home-frother market, its own rules. In Q2 2026, Starbucks reported cold foam sales were up 40% year on year. The drink has won.

Vanilla was always the gateway flavour. Soft, familiar, sweet in a way that doesn't shout, vanilla cold foam carries the espresso underneath rather than competing with it. Done with the right syrup and the right milk, it tastes like a quiet weekend morning. Done with the wrong oat milk, it tastes like dishwater with bubbles. MYOM Barista Oat solves the second problem.

“A drink that quietly took over coffee. Soft enough to start your weekend with, strong enough to remember.”

MYOM Vanilla Cold Foam Iced Latte Recipe

A four-step build with a creamy, vanilla-laced crown. The drink that proves you don't need a barista.

Serves: 1. Time: 5 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 tall glass full of ice
  • 1 double shot of espresso (cold or room temperature)
  • 200ml of chilled MYOM Barista Oat (icy-cold, below 6°C)
  • 15ml vanilla syrup (Monin, Sweet Freedom, or any decent brand)

Method

  • Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour over 100ml of the chilled MYOM Barista Oat, then the double espresso. Stir once. This is the iced latte beneath the foam.
  • Pour the remaining 100ml of chilled MYOM Barista into a measuring cup. Add 15ml of vanilla syrup.
  • Froth for 30 seconds with a handheld frother (angle near the surface first to pull in air, then plunge slowly to thicken), until the foam is glossy, thick and pourable.
  • Spoon the vanilla cold foam generously over the iced latte, building a tall, creamy crown.
  • Serve with a wide straw or sip straight through the foam. The first taste is vanilla, the second is coffee, the third is the reason you'll make this again tomorrow.

Why you'll love it

  • The drink you'll slow down for. Glossy foam, cold milk, espresso threading downward through the glass. The first sip is the one that makes you pause and notice.
  • Soft, not sweet. Vanilla syrup tunes the drink up gently rather than burying the espresso. The natural sweetness of MYOM oats does the rest.
  • Cold foam that holds. Fava bean protein gives you a crown that stands proud for the whole drink. No collapse, no separation.

Make it your own

Swap vanilla for hazelnut, caramel, salted caramel, or brown sugar syrup. Each one re-tunes the drink completely. Hazelnut leans toward Italian classic. Caramel pulls toward dessert. Brown sugar makes it taste like a biscuit. For a sugar-free version, use a teaspoon of vanilla paste instead of syrup, with a few drops of stevia in the foam.

For an iced vanilla flat white, use a smaller glass, half the milk, and the same double shot. For a true "dirty" version, pour the espresso shot directly through the cold foam at the table. The shot tunnels through the foam and creates the drama.
